Severn Trent Services has been awarded a contract to provide its TETRA NSAF (nitrifying submerged aerated filter) and TETRA DeepBed filtration technologies for upgrades to Northumbrian Water’s Consett sewage treatment works near Ebchester in the north east of England.
The filtration systems are being employed to accommodate a growing population served by the plant, which currently treats ten million litres of wastewater daily for customers in several surrounding communities. The contract, which includes system design, manufacture and installation, was awarded by the project’s general contractor, Carillion plc. Entec Holdings Ltd. is the project consultant. Work on the project commenced in early July 2010, with completion expected in summer 2011.
