When looking to provide safe storage solutions for heavier loads in tough working conditions one could consider the Modul-System Extendable drawer system from Tevo Limited, the specialist vehicle racking company

In conjunction with celebrating 30 years in business, Tevo also launched the new extra long drawers during the Commercial Vehicle Show, which was held at the NEC in Birmingham between the 12th to 14th April 2011. The new drawers have a maximum load capacity of 80kg each and are available in depths ranging from 810mm up to 1458mm. Naturally the drawers are also compatible with the Modul-System product range utilising the unique patented T-track frame, which was launched by Tevo in the UK (April 2010).

The new drawers are able to provide a safe and robust solution for demanding users in need of transporting heavier and bulky loads. The system is ideally suited for pick-ups but works equally well in vans and cars, typically as under the floor storage.

“We know that professional users in this segment have high demands in terms of both safety and efficiency during their working hours, very often with emergency call outs as an integral part of their role. To fulfil their requirements we can now provide an extremely robust storage solution that shrugs off tough conditions and practically eliminates unnecessary time wastage in their daily workload,” says David Mickelson, CEO of Tevo.

The extra long drawers offer complete flexibility and can be totally integrated as part of a Modul-System solution in between shelf-end supports or used as a standalone unit above and below a false floor. Additional smart accessories are also available for the new drawer arrangement such as plastic drawer inserts, cargo nets, net dividers and storage pockets to make the most of the available space inside the drawers themselves.

The system is made with high tensile strength steel and aluminium, which in combination with a new ball bearing solution creates maximum strength but minimum weight. This is an important factor for safety and the environment, since it reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The new extra long drawers incorporate safety features such as
a built-in safety catch, to prevent drawers from unintentionally sliding shut when fully opened even when parked on an incline. In addition there is also an anti-finger trapping protection in the form of a safety stop, which prevents the drawer from accidentally closing when in use.

The new drawer system, a registered design with patent pending, was developed in close consultation with end-user customers and like the rest of the Modul-System range is a direct result of thorough research and safety trials including digital and physical crash testing.

“A key safety feature of this system is the trapping protection that can be added which requires a manual intervention by the user to close the drawer. This makes it very easy on an organisation wide basis to provide a safer working environment for the operator,” concludes David Mickelson.
